Teej Women fellowship!

Nepal filled with festivals and religious ceremonies. Majorities of people follow Hindu religion. It is hard for believers in their families if they are the only Christian. Many are often forced to celebrate the Hindu holidays and make the sacrifice in the temples.

We do not celebrate those festivals; instead, we try to encourage believers to come to the church, and we gather there during the main Hindu holidays. Today we had a women’s fellowship and prayed for our nation. Women and girls who felt alone and who wanted to spend time with the church family could join the fellowship.

Anne Lise did an awesome job of encouraging women. She spoke about how God sees women valuable in His eyes as we see our children. It was vital to share that message because Hinduism treats women as men’s property, very much like the Jews used to treat women in the Old Testament.

The observance of Hartalika Teej is dedicated to the Goddess Parvati, commemorating her union with Lord Shiva. The festival is celebrated for the well-being of spouse and children and purification of one’s body and soul. The festival is a three-day-long celebration that combines feasts as well as rigid fasting. Teej usually takes place in the first week of September and lasts for three days.

After the fellowship, all the women have a meal together at the roof of the church. It was so warm, and the sun was intense. There was no roof. It was not easy. Pray for Nepali women that the Lord will deliver them and that they will be allowed to live in dignity and respect.

Church growth in Tarkeshower Municpality!

Around 21 years back, I remember that we planted the seed of the gospel in Jitpur village with three families in Tarkeshower municipality northern part of Kathmandu. Around the same time, few other house fellowships started by other groups. There were very few believers those days. A few months back I was invited as a guest speaker in one of the local church for pastors meeting and Again, three weeks later, I was asked to speak on behalf of the Christians community to the local mayor and his team. Today there are around 65 churches in this area. It was such a blessing to meet different people from all sorts of society. It was encouraging what the Lord has done over the years. His kingdom is growing in the midst of the challenges. Thank you for praying for Nepal.

More souls are added!

7 Souls are baptized today in downtown fellowship. Each of our local fellowships’ baptism is taking places all most every other week in this summer season. These little barrels are blessings. When there is will there is away.

Prayers for Mahima children home!

Road to children home was opened 30+ years ago. Few people in the neighborhood always look at how to put trouble to a Christian organization. People in the village decided to move the road on our side 19 feet. There is a building standing in this property. We told them that it is private property and they can not just extend the road. They have not touched our boundaries yet. Please keep in your prayer that they will not affect us. They demand to take the road through our property. We are looking into a legal solution. Please keep in your prayers.

Easter celebration

Christian community jointly celebrated Resurrection Sunday in different places in Kathmandu valley. Our believers and churches have joined rallies together with other evangelical churches in different parts of the city. Believers meet in the church and we all sing, praise, and worship the Lord as we walk toward peace really in the street. In the end, we all met in open ground and have praise and worship and short sermon and we all celebrate Jesus resurrection Sunday together. Once a year big event has been a common practice among the churches here for the last few years.

CFA School of Ministry Nepal !

I talked to one of our student at CFA School of Ministry called  Santosh Tomata who came from far west Nepal.   He told me that he was only believer in his family. His family were against his decision about following Christ and he mentioned me that he was going to start new church in his unreached village. Once I heard this I really felt encouraging him with vision that he has received and backing him up.  This was why we started to equip and train new people. Make that happen where each village have its own church. This is awesome way to raise church planters.

After the earthquake in 2015, we did not start a new semester because the children’s home was using facility where we ran our Bible College.  We used to run 3 years course. We finally got started short-term school again in fall 2017.  Our 24 students came from different parts of Nepal and closer from boarder of India and Tibet. Most of them were from different tribal groups who have their own languages, culture and traditions.    Our instructors were most local pastors and leaders during this whole fall training.

Urmila B.K. decided to join the Bible School because she wanted to serve God and know Him better. She was the only believer in her family like Santosh and this was a bold step for her. She has completed her training. Her plan was to be a church planter and she is on her way back to her Village.  Most of these students have a deep and genuine hunger to be equipped and know more from His word and know Him. Our students were first generation believers and did not have church background, since they normally came from Hindu or Buddhist backgrounds.

On 6 November, we rejoiced together at graduation to see them completing their training and go through graduation. It has been part of my heart. It always touches my heart when I see students from different languages; tribes and regions come to us. Enjoy seeing them grow and get discipled and   go through the training, and see them graduated. Looking forward to see how God is going to use them and excited about the new CFABC school year in January 2018.

Some of the students turned to be our native missionaries we go along with them for long time. We try to support them to start the work and help them whatever way we can.
